Theatre Ticket kiosks in london

Options
Does anyone know if I would be likely to pick up discounted tickets for the lion king on any day at one of the kiosks offering same day tickets at a reduction? I don't know if tickets for this show are ever released via these last minute kiosk outlets, but would be willing to take the chance if I knew that the tickets were sometimes available.
Thank you.

The official Leicester Square ticket booth has a website whcih shows what tickets it has available (you have to go to the booth to buy the tickets though, you can't buy online).

Having had a quick look to see what your chances are generally , it seems that they don't have any tickets for the Lion King today or tomorrow, but do have some for Thursday (matinee and evening), but not at a discounted rate

Also go to the theatre itself, sometimes they have on the day tickets that are cheaper as the theatre doesn't want the empty seats!

Thank you, another good idea. Will get up to London early and take a chance I think.
  • I'd guess Lion King may be pretty busy atm due to school holidays, maybe worth leaving a couple of weeks if you can. Matinees and early week dates are much more likely. Also worth checking tickets against the theatres seating plan http://www.lyceum-theatre.co.uk/seating-plan.html and there's some excellent info about getting tickets and which ones to avoid here: http://www.theatremonkey.com/LYCEUMbooking.htm#Th

As the West End theatres are generally pretty old sight lines and facilities may not be as good as in more modern purpose built theatres,. If you are going to shell out serious money best to try to minimise the risk of disappointment.

Thank you gastronomix. Am quite flexible on dates and can avoid school hols. Was planning a matinee to avoid late night train travel! Will check out the websites you gave. Thanks again.
