Buying a 2nd hand car,Have you asked for a new RECENT MOT to be done?(even if you pay
Options
When searching for a new car from a dealer, or a private sale, if it has an MOT 9-12 months ago,
then for your assurance, then have you asked the seller for a brand new recent MOT to be done,
(on the basis that anything to the car could have happened within that 9-12 months)
Did the seller agree to this new MOT ?
did you offer to pay for it?
(I mean 9-12 months MOT, not 7 months... so making it the longest period that the MOT was done)

I think its unreasonable to expect a fresh MOT if its got say +6 months left, but some dealers offer a fresh MOT as part of their business model.
If its only got a couple of months then use your judgement of the car in question and negotiate price accordingly, a car with a full 12 months ticket will sell easier so don't be surprised if once its passed its MOT that they want more money for the car than previously.
Bear in mind that if its got only 2 months left then you should expect that it may need money spending on it to get it through, course everyones circumstances are different and it may fly through, previous owner simply not bothering for a multitude of reasons.0
