scottish power default

I moved out of my previous property in 2011 and the company who did the checkout confirmed that they will send the last meter readings (gas & electricity) and my forwarding address to Scottish power. They failed to do so and last year when I checked my credit report, I realised that scottish power put a default on my file for an outstanding bill of £430 and a gone away flag for not providing a forwarding address. I never received the final bill or default notice so I was not aware of the outstanding amount. After explaining the situation to scottish power, they removed the gone away flag but not the default.
Do you think I can complain to scottish power/ ombudsman to have the default removed? It was probably my responsibility to give them a forwarding address, but I paid £150 for this checkout service and I thought it will be done as promised.
Thanks

The responsibility to check everything is paid and settled remained with you I'm afraid. You should always check direct, and not take a 3rd parties word.Still rolling rolling rolling......

Legally, it's your responsibility, so no chance of getting it removed.

If the checkout service (I'm not sure what that is) was done by Scottish Power then you should be able to have it removed if there's any record of it.
If it was done by a third party, then you can complain to the third party for not doing what was agreed, but it's unlikely you'll get anywhere with Scottish Power. What will your verse be?
