I have broken a metatarsal in my foot and as a shop worker I am on my feet all day so have to take time off so it can heal.
My contract is for a minimum of 8 hours per week but usually get more, told my boss I will be off and am getting a sick line tomorrow to cover myself.
But he says I wont get any sick pay so what can I claim to get me through this spell, should be 4-6 weeks or so I am told.
Can I claim ESA or maybe Income support or something else?
Any help at all is appreciated, thanks.

How old are you? What are your circumstances? Do you live with family or rent?
It's difficult it say without that information0 -
https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility - this link gives the rules for ssp. Your employer is wrong to say you would not qualify unless you only do 8 hours week in/week out. If you do 21 hours @ NMW £6.31 that would be £132.51 as an example. The weekly qualifying earnings level is £111/week. So you meed to look at your wages slips and see exactly what took home.0

yes to the money and no to the ssp1, called ESA earlier they think i am entitled to sick pay so called my manager and he says because my contract states 8 hours i dont get any even if i do more hours.
so i have to get an ssp1 printed off for him to fill in explaining why they are not paying it and then i can claim ESA, does this sound right?mortui non mordent0
