Given that without it you will struggle to get to work then asking your employer for a small wage advance would be a very good idea.

Failing that is there someone you work with who lives near to you who could give you a lift to/from work? (you could say you car has a problem or you didn't realise the MOT had run out and can't get it booked in until next week or something if you don't want to admit the real issue).
If nobody goes the same way as you then perhaps you could walk part of it and then someone could give you a lift the rest of way.

Will your bank give you a temporary overdraft for a few days?

Could you book a couple of days holiday from work at short notice?

If none of those then it looks like the options are to sell something or pawn something to raise a few quid.

  • Hi all, thank you for the advice - I managed to sell something online.

As for the dejavu comments etc - this was a real concern of mine last night and it is unfair that I was judged by this. I visit mse regularly. Never have I been in a position like this before and as most of the posters are nice and genuinely helpful - I also did not post anywhere else as I knew that someone on here would know of somewhere or be able to offer advice. It is completely unfair that due to some scammers - it's as though some people actually don't experience the need for a small amount of cash.

    Thanks again.

It is quite easy to avoid the need to borrow trifling sums like £10. You have to stop spending every last penny you earn and learn to put a little aside each week to allow for emergencies such as the one you are currently trying to borrow money to solve.
When you put something aside, you need to do it before other expenses come out of your pay. Not try to save what, if anything, is left at the end of your pay period.
It is all a matter of financial discipline.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

    Most people don't.

You would not either, if the next time you are tempted to spend £5 on a "treat" you take the money and put it in a jar instead.

Do that every time you fancy a drink, smoke, or a second helping of food etc, and you'll gradually build up a small reserve that can see you through occasional times of running a bit short.

umm, how was my comment about deja vu & subsequent thread link to someone in a similar situation a few weeks back judging you? paranoid much.

It was intended to be helpful as many suggestions had already been covered. why yes, you are very welcome. !
