Confused re Child Tax Credits and Company Pension

Hi

I am rather confused about Child Tax Credits and OH's Company pension.

My OH works for a University and is in the LGPS (local government pension scheme). His P60 total says 28,770.91, we checked his P60 earlier and there is no mention on it re what he has paid into the pension. It only has total tax paid and NI paid.

So am I meant to be taking off what he has paid into his company pension (ie. £28,770.91 minus xxx) and tell Tax Credits that amount or is it already taken off the P60 total?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I also pay into the LGPS.

The amount shown on the P60 is the gross annual pay, after pension deductions and, therefore, you declare the figure on the P60 to tax credits.

Is his pension deducted before paying tax?

Generally the P60 already has pension taken off. If he looks at a payslip it should show "gross pay" and "taxable pay" and these amounts would be different. The P60 should show taxable pay.

Thanks very much for your reply.
