This is for those living in Northern Ireland.
There is a rally being held at Belfast City Hall Sunday 27th April, all welcome.
The aim is to get a special department in the police force to deal with animal cruelty, such as the Kirkwood case. Proper sentencing for these cases and also a register of those convicted of animal cruelity.

I think that's a really good idea - over here it seems to be left to the RSPCA to investigate and bring cases to court. I don't understand that, as animal cruelty laws are in place. surely it should be up to the police to investigate? because they have to be on scene if the RSPCA take action. why aren't there 'animal cruelty officers'?0

The council handed over the job to DART who deal with farming etc. There is no specialized unit to deal with the whole of Northern Ireland just general and very very very few are ever brought to court. The USPCA find it very hard to get the police to even take an interest. We have ongoing bombs etc still to deal with.
The Kirkwood case where pet cats trapped and then the dogs let loose to pull them out of cages to rip them apart and filmed. They got 6 months suspended and walked out of court laughing and joking. The police and USPCA said the worse case of animal abuse they ever saw. Puppies as well abused. Yet the judge just handed down six months suspended. Its very hard getting the courts to even take an interest.0
