Rights re. 13-month old lawnmower

To add to my annoyance, my Qualcast lawnmower at Argos is described as having a "Manufacturer's 2 year guarantee." whereas at Homebase it is listed (for the same price) with a "Guarantee: 1 year". Both Argos and Homebase are part of the Home Retail Group.

So, better to choose Argos over Homebase I'd say. Also, Argos give the option of extending the warranty to three years for a £12.99 extra in the case of this model, not that I think the mower would survive it past the initial two years!0 -

In the first instance, after six months from sale it is for the consumer to prove the fault existed at the time of sale.
Of course, if the consumer manages to do that then the seller will then have to disprove it to win the case.
But if the buyer does not prove the fault is inherent in the first place, then there really is no point in going to court.
There is nothing for it but for the geezer to take Homebase to the small claims court and then let us know how he got on! :T
