Should i be worried?

Hi,
This is probably and hopefully a daft question but....
My sister recently 'cashed-in' £15,000 of her tax free premium bonds because she is lending me the money for a deposit on a flat.
This afternoon she wrote a cheque out for the 15k and paid it into my Lloyds bank account for me.
I have just 'logged-on' to my online account and i cannot see it.Usually i see payments straight away.
Any thoughts?
Thankyou in advance.

Simple answer, no, you shouldn't be worried. Someone better informed that me will quote the specific terms, but cheques will take 5-7 days for the amount to be available in your account (sometimes shorter, sometimes longer).
Perhaps for a larger amount a further delay takes place while they rn further checks, which they wouldn't do for smaller amounts, or perhaps your sister missed the cut off time for paying cheques in to an account for that day. Either way, give it a little time.0 -
No need to be worried at all.
It will go through the clearing cycle unless it is a lloyds cheque, then I am presuming they will be doing extra checks, before going into your account the same day.0 -

You SHOULD be worried. A cheque paid into your account shows instantly! It won't be available balance for a few days but it should show as the balance.
I get paid by cheques a lot and they show instantly as my balance but my available balance doesn't change for about 3-4 days.

where was it paid in, your actual branch, another branch, or what?
Also did your sister use a teller (live person) or put it in an envelope in an automated deposit machine? We don't have enough factual detail to say one way or the other. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
If your sister paid it in in a deposit point it won't show until tomorrow.DEBT FREE!

Hi hotrocks68. Have you checked Internet Banking today to see if the cheque now shows on your statement? If it's still not there, please get in touch our PhoneBank team (0845 3000 000 / 01733 347 007) or your local branch. One of my colleagues will be happy to help.
Thanks,
