PPI from 2000 - 2005

Hi all

I was closing my barclaycard account the other day and asked out of curiosity if i had PPI on my card in the past (as i thought i did).

The person on the phone confirmed i had PPI from 2000 - 2005 on the card.

He asked if i wanted to query it which i did on the grounds i was mis-sold to me. I was working in 2000 and was then a student from 2002-2005 at university.

He then raised a complaint over the phone on his system.

Anyway, my question is how likely am i to receive a positive response from this? I realise it is over 6 years old.

Unfortunately it is your circumstances at the time of the original sale (2000) which determine whether it was mis-sold to you. If you subsequently became a student in 2002, it would have been your own responsibility to cancel said insurance as it was no longer suitable. If you were working in 2000, this shows you had a need for it.

It's possible the Bank may find other errors with the sale, but it's far more likely that they'll have destroyed payment records pertaining to your PPI and, unless you can provide these yourself through statements etc, this will obviously prove problematical as well.
