Any help for a complete idiot please. I have two email accounts with yahoo I changed the passwords on the two accounts this morning. I know you shouldn't do it but I have used the same password for the two accounts and now I can only remember half of the password so can't accesses any of my emails. I wouldn't mind so much but I had some stuff saved in my emails that I need. I could cry what a plonker I am.

Be fair, you are blaming Yahoo for being unbelievably stupid, so your saved emails are obviously not that important to you!
Maybe you would like to sign this pathetic petition here before it closes tomorrow.
WOW and I thought I had problems ?.
I'm not blaming yahoo for my mistake, I just wish they would either answer my emails or their phones. Think you need to chill out.0 -
Clutching at straws time now.
leave pc alone. Go and compile on paper, a list of likely combinations of words untill you have a long list. You can then try them one by one, crossing out as you go. Even whilst doing this, you may think of others. Keep the list.
I assume you know how to access your history. That being so, go back a fortnight or so and click on yahoo mail. You might find that one of the links somehow takes you in, even though its supposed to be closed. If it DOES, you may be able to change you password from there.
How about setting up an outlook email account. Could you not import all yahoo stuff over?. That way you'd have it all again. If that worked, you could reopen a new yahoo account and bring it all back again.
As for 0800 numbers, make sure you're not on a provider that charges. There is a website that gives regional numbers. I think it's 0800 buster or something like that.
let us know how you get on.
and finally, each time you use a password, write it down in code to a list. For example I have MSE =th12. That means to me, thehatch (name of housr) 12 year we moved here, 2012This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
When you DO either get your email sorted out or set up new ones, begin using a password manager like Lastpass or KeePass (both free) which means you only have to remember the one very secure master password for it ( that you must decide on & which you MUST remember) and it stores all your passwords.....which, of course, should be completely different for each site

Lastpass can generate a password on-the-fly of any combination of letters, numbers, symbols and any length, then it saves it for you so it can fill in the Log In forms for sites if you want it to.
Or go to GRC.com and use their random password generator https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm
Passwords should be at least 10 random characters in length these days, and even longer ones are better to resist hacking.0 -
Finally managed to get back my yahoo email account with the help of the yahoo team .0

I bet that she has not learned from her silly mistake though and followed the advice given by Yahoo e.g. used different passwords on each Yahoo account, registered an alternate account with a different email provider, registered a mobile number. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
