Hi Everyone
Was hoping to get some advice.
I paid off a debt which had a CCJ against it, this was paid in early 2013 and to my shock it is showing as active in my credit file. I called the debt company who were rude and simply apologised for not sending the notification to the court to have this removed. Surely that is not acceptable, the minute we do something wrong the debt company is taking action, but they have not fulfilled their side of the bargain, clearing the CCJ (the whole point of settling the amount was to improve my credit rating) is there any action that can be taken against the debt company? Any advice provided woul dbe very much appreciated!

You can (or could have) apply to the court yourself for a certificate of satisfaction. The court then inform the registry trust, which is where the credit reference agencies get their information from.

Its a good idea to always do this with a CCJ to ensure you know that the registry trust has been informed. And its definitely a good idea to check your credit files once a CCJ has been satisfied to ensure this is reflected.
In terms of action against the DCA - if now you have informed them of the error they inform the court then that seems fair. Unfortunately mistakes do happen.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi.
What was the date the CCJ was registered against you?
If you paid within 1 month of the judgement then the CCJ will be removed. If its more than 1 month then it will show as satisfied.
if you have a letter/receipt showing this then you can send it to the court and they will arrange the CRA to change it to satisfied/settled.
the CCJ will still remain on your file though.0 -
If the CCJ remains on file. Then your credit rating will be impacted.0
