However, being pre-regulation means that they won't have to consider your complaint.
In certain circumstances you can then complain to the insurer, but only a few are successful via this route.
Any complaint you might make is further complicated by the purchaser of the insurance now being deceased, which obviously means that you can provide no first hand evidence of the circumstances of the sale.0 -

You can complain, but you complain to Santander, then when they refuse your complaint, you find out who the insurer was. They are under no obligation to redress any funds, but they MAY take responsibility.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Thanks for the advice and the time you have all taken to respond to my request for help but, the situation is still hard to swallow.
However, I still have a bug bear with Paymentshield (yes, yes, it was pre regulation) who promoted, recommended and suggested I buy their new product (yes, yes, offered options for an upgrade) who were not explicit nor emphasised getting advice from elsewhere (yes, yes the fine print in their script to gain independent advice - to which I do not recall at the end of the sale) and get away from not being liable for the sale of a policy that had minimal benefits for my circumstances... (yes, yes they can do this because it was an upgrade to an existing policy).
Ah well, I get the message, this is a dead end track for a innocent first time buyer who just about afforded the mortgage at the time and thought the advice given by Paymentshield was real financial advice and trustworthy with regards to a policy they sold to me.
Dead end it is then !0 -
Payment Shield is still a well-respected financial product, you may not like that it was expensive, but you weren't mis-sold it and it did exactly what it was set up to do-protect your mortgage.thought the advice given by Paymentshield was real financial advice and trustworthy with regards to a policy they sold to me.0
