Sparks in microwave

Hi
I bought a microwave about 6 months ago and last few days randomly there are sparks that I can see in the microwave with a noise, I do not know where they are coming from, but I am sure what I am putting inside is a plastic microwaveable bottle for my little one and mothercare has instructions on it to be sterilized in a micro so I am not putting anything wrong.
Does anyone know what this could be, I bought it from currys so should I take it back there, I am really concerned as I have a small kid in the house. I dont think it should need replacement so quick.
Can someone please advise.

Look for rust, bare metal etc.
Also clean the inside, it may be something sticking to the walls.
Can you watch to see where the spark is coming from?0 -

I clean the oven every two weeks but I will still clean it again.
I did see the sparks and they were striking the water, but the water was just on the plate as I had just cleaned the bottle and a few drops just probably settled on the plate in few seconds. But the sparks were continuous and I had my little one in hand so just left him in the other room to come back and see load of smoke from come out of the oven after i switched it off.
Mine is a morphy richards so not sure if they will take this one back or replace it as it is not the one they state in the article, I read this in metro in morning.0 -
You can get sparks if there is food stuck on the microwave guide cover, the square or rectangular plastic looking (actually silica) area where the microwave come out. Clean gently with some soapy water a couple of times and see if it sorts the problem.
I've have had sparks a couple of times and this has always sorted it. If not it is something more serious and time to contact the shop.0 -

Hi
Thanks for your reply, first thing I did once i went back home was check the rectangular plate on microwave of any food on it and it was clean, I cleaned the microwave again and will wait for a few more days to see how it goes. If it sparks again I will have no option but to take it to the shop and see what they say.
Thanks again everyone for your replies.0 -
I'm just curious, what happened ?0

Thanks for all the help.0 -
I had something similar with a Panasonic, bought from Apollo, several years ago. They sent the service engineer out twice, but it didn't improve, so he told me to insist on a replacement.
This caused Apollo to mess me abut as I wanted a brown machine and not the white ones they had in stock, but an email to the CEO of Panasonic gained an apology and next day couriered replacement, which lasted for years.0
