What do you need it to do? - they are both fine tablets0

Your choice between them is whether you want a device with vanilla Android, or one which is integrated (some may say "locked") into the Amazon ecosystem.0

Nexus 7 all day longUndersteer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
Your best best is too look at the reviews...Techradar is a good place to start....and see if they have the features you want,or rather the recipient wants.
There are other tablets worth considering too.
I personally wouldn't go for any Amazon products because of the lack of google play store support0 -

How to install Google apps on Kindle Fire HD or HDX0 -
I have a 1st Gen Nexus 7 and my OH has the never version and I must admit we both adore them. I would personally go for it oiver the kindle fire as I think the apps choice etc is better. Plus you can get the kindle app on the Nexus 7 and it works very well (avid reader here!) My OH uses the Nexus very differently to how I use mine yet neither of us have had any issues with them at all. Mine might be a few years old now but it doesn't feel old or outdated or clunky in any way and it doesn't run any slower than when I first got it.
Nexus 7 all the way from this corner!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0 -
My OH has a 1st gen Nexus 7. (I got her it as a surprise Xmas gift in 2012). Despite being a self-confessed technophobe, she loves it.
