Hi,This may be a very silly questions:- are the Royal Bank Scotland same as Bank of Scotland. The reason i ask is - i have a Balance to transfer from Halifax Smart in August and through the MSE site see that Ulster Bank offer a fee free 0% BT. I have requested forms from Ulster and they state they can not accept BT's from RBS Group. Halifax is of course Bank of Scotland???!!!!Please.....does someone have the answer?Caz

They are separate banks.0

The Royal Bank of Scotland (who also own NatWest) are not the same as Bank of Scotland. They are both Scottish banks with Offices in Edinburgh but they are different. Bank of Scotland is now HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland).
So Ulster will be OK.

Ulster is part of the RBS group which is why they refuse the transfer from other RBS group banks.0

RBS owns ulster, natwest and coutts. They are all the same bank except have different brands and slightly different products. Obvious ulster products is a bit more tied in to the irish economy.0
