How long does your commute to/from work take?

My longest commute was 90 minutes drive each way on a good day. Currently working from home, so 6.5 seconds, rising to 10 seconds if I stop off at the kitchen to pick up some milk.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

40 mins by car
or 3.5 hours by public transport - 2 trains, 2 buses and a long walk.
Would love to work nearer to home or at least somewhere accessible by public transport, but after 10 years of trying there just isnt anything0 -
Hi
I work locally, 15 minutes by bus or DLR and 10 minute walk.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
20 minute walk, 55 minute train, 5 minute tube, 10 minute walk.
In reality it is normally about 2 hrs as you have to allow a few minutes for each interchange and rarely get onto the first tube etc.
The worst one I knew was a chap doing Derby to London daily but that was because his g/friend was 4 months pregnant when he started the job and he didnt want to relocate her away from her support network. Think that was about 3 hrs each way on a motorbike.
Worst routine one is a chap that lives in a village nearish to Norwich coming in daily by train to the City. About 3.25 hours a day too.
2 hours is probably my limit, though arguably I sleep most the time on the train element so if that was longer it wouldnt make much difference to me.0 -
My commute is about 1 hr 30 - 2 hrs each way. I don't mind the time it takes but because it's on public transport and I'm 6'3" I find it a horrible journey due to the awful leg room on buses and local trains.0

about 30 minutes drive if i go into the office, and 10 seconds if i don't.
Dont mind the drive really, as in the past I have had to travel a lot less in terms of distance but has taken 2 hours on some days as was a busier motorway with frequent accidents.0 -
I'm self employed but work regularly in a few places. My usual place is between 1 hr 15 mins and 1 hr 30 minutes . My next most common pace is up to 2hrs 30 each way. I've always had long commutes though and mine is certainly not considered long with the people I work with.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. My old commute was about 2hrs walk-train-train-walk.
Now it's either 15 mins walk-tube-walk or 20 mins to get down to the bike store, unlock the bike, cycle to work (my preferred option!).
I didn't particularly mind the train, although getting up at 5am every day was a bit tedious. It was the delays that I hated - I'm paid by the minute, so every morning delay meant I was losing money, every evening delay meant I was missing seeing my better half
And there were a lot of delays... Frequently got to the stage when I couldn't remember the last day I didn't have a delay. Plus had to pay £3500 per year for the privilege!Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -
I've got a 20 minute walk to the station and then a 15 to 20 minute train journey (depending on train). Luckily, at the other hand, it's out of the station and into the office!
Previous to that I've had a five minute walk, completely luxury.
At uni I would usually have 5 to 6 hours return - wouldn't want to do that again! (That wasn't in the UK so I'd often leave the house at 6.15am and wouldn't be back until around 8pm if I had an early and late class).0 -
Previously at my old base it was a 20 minute bus journey to the office now my base has been moved it has been estimated (not actually done the journey yet) as 3 hours on public transport each way and my line manager thinks this is reasonable.
Currently I have to go to the new office once a week but can see this changing to more days per week, and I get a lift with someone who lives close to me unfortunately they are now moving house and the lift is no longer available.
Luckily HR are reviewing everyones personnel records to see who else lives near me and if they will give me a lift.0
