Wild bird

Atrix phoned me earlier and told me his daughter age 9, had found a bird this morning. it seems unable to fly (he thinks its wings have been damaged, but it flaps them). Grandaughter has carried this bird around all day and been feeding it bits of cat food from her fingers. the bird is happily walking up and down her arm, chirps at her and opens its beak when it wants food and seems quite ok apart from not flying away.

the neighbour has lent them a wire cat carrier - to keep the bird in overnight, and safe from their cats.
Son thinks its a starling or thrush - he isn't sure. he wanted to know if he should take it to the vets or the RSPCA.
I suggested he ring the RSPB, I am not sure either!
any suggestions?

Google to search for a local wildlife group, or your local Vet could probably put you in touch with a rescue.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

they took the bird to the vets this morning.
the vet told GD that they would release the bird when it is better and 'well done'.

so, GD is happy. and thanks for your advice ljonski and sagz.
