PPI claims on old mortages & credit cards

I've had 5 mortgages dating back from 1982-2000 & I know I had PPI with at least 1 of them.Problem is,I dont have paperwork anymore & cant remember who the lenders were.Also 1 credit card until 2000.Ive obtained my credit report to try & trace lenders but it only goes back 6 years.Am I flogging a dead horse?

yes. Ignoring the fact that most MPPI complaints fail anyway, you would need to know who sold it to you (may not be a lender but a broker). You would also need complaint reasons. If you cant remember who it is then it is hard to complain about what they did wrong. Let alone provide evidence to support that.

Documentation is likely to be long gone as one of the reasons most MPPI complaints fail is that most MPPi is standalone and not part of the mortgage.

In 1982 there was no banking or building societies ombudsman scheme, so FOS would have no jurisdiction even if you could prove PPI (building societies could not issue credit cards back then either).
