Don't play PS3's so not fully up to speed with how it all works.
Just had £450 bill run up on my AMEX through transactions to PS network. I have used it legitimately to buy mine craft, and a handful of time to buy FIFA points for the weans. Checked my credit card today and there's £450 worth of transaction been run up since the last statement end 27th March. The wean has in the past always asked permission to use this and at most 3 times in a month.
When I noticed it today I phoned and cancelled credit card straight away as I didn't want any more run up. The guy pointed out the wean could have been doing this and I said he could have but didn't think so. I got passed to fraud who then passed it to disputed transactions. I said I would get hold of the wean and try to work out the legitimate transactions and in turn dispute the rest.
The wean (8 year old) denied it and said he has always asked me first and that he could not accidentally make a purchase as you need to add fund to a wallet then make a purchase.
The dodgey transaction since the end of March have been up to 5 with the average spend starting around a £5er then up to £23 this morning, which to me indicates whoever has been making them has been gradually getting bolder. In looking at the dates some have been made when we couldn't have made them.
Went back to Amex to tell them this and the guy advised he would dispute the transactions but Sony would send them the evidence of the transaction and I would need to pay them. he said I should contact Sony direct. I said no way was I paying them all to get the fraud team involved as we had clearly not made all the purchases.. He said Fraud would not deal with it as I had used the vendor previously with legitimate transactions.
I told him they were partly responsible for the purchases so they would need to deal with it, he said he couldn't help so I escalated it and waiting on them calling back.
I also found this online:

So my Questions are
1. What can I demand from Amex in terms of responsibility and should they have noticed the increased transactions as irregular activity?
2. Would it be worth contacting Sony or just leave this to Amex? Would Sony have the IP addresses logged for each transaction or just the account?

The transactions wouldn't be flagged as irregular activity I wouldn't think.
I'm not sure why you think AmEx are partly responsible for these transactions? The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Amex have done nothing wrong.
Get a breakdown of the downloads etc from PS - take it from there.0 -
AMEX is the wrong tree to bark up, you need to contact PS for a breakdown of charges and they will have the IP address the payments where made on.All that glitters is not gold.0
