Doesn't mean it's fraud though.peachyprice wrote: »So it's OK to give someone your card and PIN then?0 -

It would probably breach the bank's terms and conditions, but it wouldn't be against the law so can't be fraud.0 -
Well you must have a weird card then because if you pay by C&P that's the way a refund would be made (whether the P is required or not). I can't remember the last time anyone looked at the signature on my card, in fact, without checking, I'm not even sure I've bothered to sign them all.
where i work the card goes into the machine generates a slip for the customer to sign ,the assistant has to check the signature then press either 1 signature matches or 2 it doesn't .
I have on occasion needed to press "2" as either its someone else s card or theres no signature.
If you don't sign your card you are breaching the cards T &C ,if you then have nothing else with a signature on it the refund will be declined. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Well that's extremely unusual these days, the vast majority of card transactions are authorised by Chip & PIN. Is there a reason why where you work doesn't use it?0 -

People in my family also use each other's cards on a fairly regular basis.
Yes, this is a breech of the issuer's terms and conditions but unless the cards are being used without permission of the authorised card holder or they are being used in order to commit a fraudulent transaction then it is not illegal.
It would leave the card holder liable for any losses that might occur from the act of giving out their card details, but provided that the truth is told should this happen, again, nothing illegal.0 -
