How long before a scrapped vehicle is shown as such?
Hi all,
Some of you may recall how my motorcycle was caught up in the Xmas floods. I've now received a settlement and the bike has been returned back to me as salvage.
It's been a month since the settlement and I spoke to my engineer who had stated that the vehicle due to foul water would be recommended by him to be classed as a Cat B write off (but this ultimately would be decided by the third party insurer). So I called them up and they said if my engineer had stated it was a Cat B that's what it would be. To be honest no one seemed that interested really... payout has been made, the bikes been returned to me, job done.
A few days later I paid for a HPI check and the vehicle came back completely clear, I was surprised.... (I wouldn't but I could have sold the bike on with the V5). I assumed there was perhaps a delay in processing everything but today (2 weeks later), I've done another HPI check through a different company and again the same thing... completely clear, no mention as all that it has been written off.
I'm really surprised by this and if this kind of delay is typical then the HPI checkers online are as good as useless. My thinking however is that the bike hasn't actually been written off... Any thoughts please?
