In 2005 i had a policy with CPP which was mis-sold. I completed the claim form 6 weeks ago and yesterday received a cheque for £789.63p. The letter was addressed in my correct name but the cheque had my name spelled wrong by 1 letter being different. I phoned my bank and they told me i can not cash it. So i phoned CPP and told them and they have said to send the cheque back with a copy of my birth certificate and a recent utility bill even though my name is correct on the letter the cheque came with. I'm thinking this is just a way to hold on to the money longer. If so how long will it take to issue a new cheque?

Don't think anyone here can answer that.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Its probably just a simple mistake, it will probably just take a few days.
Just send the cheque back and ask them to put the same details on the cheque that they have on file.
Followed by your name, spelled out in Capitals. Enclose the envelope that the cheque came in or letter that came.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
They are making some cheques out to "the policy holder" knowing people can't bank them. They are just being awkward.Still rolling rolling rolling......

Hopefully it was a simple mistake and i receive it in a few days. It will be nice having a cash boost like that. I just hope the next cheque doesn't arrive saying the policy holder now after reading what rizla king said.0

I just mentioned it as I know someone who has had that.
Seems they are not the only one also.

The cheque is made payable to "Policyholder only" which makes it pretty useless. CPP now want me to send the cheque back at my expense, and want proof I am the policyholder so they can reissue it to me! They have asked for bank statements. What are my rights as technically they have not sent me an offer of settlement but have sent the offer to someone called Policyholder, and why should they have access to my bank statements?Still rolling rolling rolling......<

Sorry to hear that some have been sent cheques with names different or to the policyholder only but can I mention that I have a cheque bearing Barclays as the processing bank and my friend has one with Nat West on . So it could be the banks on printing the cheque may be at fault rather than CPP.Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0
