No matter how much DH and I love each other, I'd prefer him not to wash my lower half, and my hair. I assume you don't mean both at the same time?
I'm younger than you and when unwell my husband very happily will wash me and it's not humiliating but a sign of his love and care for me. Of course it's your choice but for many there is no choice and if their spouse doesn't do it then you stay unwashed. :eek:Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I found it, when younger, a bit of an issue, for some intimate care to be undertaken by my husband.
I found that it sort of changed the dynamics of husband/wife to that of patient and carer, and it did make me uncomfortable, at times.
I suppose it's just another thing someone suddenly becoming disabled has to get on board with.
Now, both being disabled, and both being older, it no longer seems to be an issue.
But, in my view, it is far better if a disabled person can be as independent of others, as possible, and that's why I always welcome workable adaptations and equipment that actually works.

I agree with Morglin above.
Being younger/older has IMHO got nowt to do with it. I just hope we never get to that point. I'd happily spend money on aids/adaptations/rebuilding, you name it, just so that we can both remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I am facing this now ..it suddenly creeps on you we want to stay independent but what is the alternative ?you have to help
Aids will not cover everything0 -
No, they won't, so it's really a case of trying to hold the tide back as far as possible, for as long as possible.
Aids can be a tremendous help, but sometimes it needs another human to assist.
