Credit card billing cycle

Options
I opened a Natwest credit card on the 8th April and am now waiting to receive it in the post (at the moment, I have not called to activate the card, however it does show up as "active" on my online banking). I am wondering how the billing cycle works as I want to avoid getting any bills that I cannot yet pay (the reason for this card is to help tide me over in May as I started a new job in April for which I will not receive pay until the end of May).

What I want to know is, does the billing cycle start when you open the account? (so I will be billed around the 8th of every month) or does it start when you ring up to activate your card?

Or is it another factor, for example the date of your first purchase? Or just completely random?

Any advice would be great!

I think it can be neither. Can you not see your next bill or payment due date in you online account?

No I can't, is this possibly because I haven't activated the card yet? It just has a dash next to minimum payment and date due.

I'm trying to work out a way in which I can spend in May but not receive a bill until after the end of that month when my pay is transferred. I wondered about the activation date as if this is the case, I could wait to activate the card at the beginning of May and therefore my next bill would be at the beginning of June?

I would not be waiting that long to activate a credit card, you may just find they put a stop on it or close it!
