Getting ever closer to the 6% barrier.

It was only 6 months or so ago that everyone was saying 5.5% would be the peak and that they would drop back down.

Will be interesting to see which savings rates follow suit.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

As always, the lenders will up their rates quicker than a slippery turd off a big stick, and savings rates will be upped a few weeks later.

Torygraph calling a top - "...it might be good time to cash in a few stock gains, and rotate a little wealth into banal interest-bearing accounts."

A nice round 6% by the end of the year seems like a safe bet

I'm looking forward to what the rate will be by the end of 2008?

    Interesting times to follow

    7, 8, or even 10%.... ?

Not really much to look forward to. The City is already getting a bit nervous. Unfortunately high rates have knock on effects in many directions that affect us all. But hey most people cant see past the extra £10 they get in their savings account.

Oh well, in the meantime, im joining the pay off ya mortgage in 3 years thread ;)! Round about when the 4% fix ends ;)!

I am really pleased and hope that the interest rates carry on upwards. I have been really fed up that the money I have saved has been earning piddling amounts of interest (although my shares have done spectacularly well over the last few years). Great news!
