Van prices have never been as high. I buy a few every year for my business and there is a serious shortage of decent stuff out there. The money you're talking about OP is scrap money!

I was talking to my friend the other day about this. My hatchback is probably worth £1200. But the equivalent van with the same engine and gearbox (just on a van platform) would easily be £3000-£4000.

They're commercial vehicles that is supposed to make the owner money so they fetch a high price.

Yup. No matter how ropy, so long as it runs and is vaguely legal, there's somebody whose business will beneft from it. Not like cars, where fashion plays a large part in depreciation, so anything too foul can be very cheaply discarded and upgraded for something better.

    And they're tax deductible

the 20% corporation tax deduction alone does not justify 300% price premium.

I get that a lot from a few associates, "you're vat registered everything must be so much cheaper". Well just because it's a little cheaper does not mean I automatically have the 80% in the business account to spend willy nilly.
