The account holders are 93 and 94! Is it deemed "reasonable" to take them off paper bills against their will and expect them to suddenly learn computer skills to keep track?
But paperless billing is not compulsory. Some tariffs require it, if so that will clearly be flagged up at time of sign up. My Mum is 94 and manages perfectly well on paperless billing, because I handle the account for her.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If they are on an Economy 7 ( 2 rate) meter and do not have storage radiators, call BG and ask them to change the meters. You can also swap tariffs with BG with no charges incurred so check out what is available now.
You can also help them by monitoring through an online account and submitting readings monthly on their behalf.
You may also be able to ask them to spread the debt over a couple of years for your parents. Make sure they are on the Priority service register and also see if the qualify for the Warm Home discount which reopens in May.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
