LBM, Long journey ahead assurance needed.

Hi all
Fairly new to all of this so appologies in advance.

Been tackling debt for a while now £26,000 :eek:and for some stupid reason We haven't taken it as seriously as we should have done.
We manage to make all payments and keep up to date with Rent Council Tax etc. (that's something I suppose)
However our CCs are eating up all of our spare cash and it has to be dealt with. 0% deals have all been used.
I have done a snowball calculator and it certainly looks like it can be solved.
To be honest if someone was to ask me where it all went I wouldn't have an answer.
My husband and I both work and contribute jointly to all bills etc.
I just need some assurance that we will succeed once and for all.
I've decided to stop smoking and pay the money daily into my savings account and pay it off a CC at the end of the month or week.
Please someone tell me we are not alone and can do this.

Appologies for the long winded, feeling sorry for myself post but this time I mean business.

  • Managed to make a payment of £70 today towards 1 CC. A drop in the ocean I know but every little helps eh
  • Also been on to my mobile provider as I am due an upgrade. However I have given 30 days notice to end contract and am going for a SIM only next month.
    More pennies saved.
  • Going sim only is a good idea. When my contract is up in October I am going to do the same. Every little helps :)

Good evening from the South Coast. Similar amount of debt here but started to give it the push! Have a look at some peoples Diaries on here from a few years back. I find it very comforting looking through their progress and becoming debt free.

Good luck, i will subscribe to your Diary and lets see how we both get on!

Good luck..I am one of those who has had to pull out all the stops but you can get there...

This place is wonderful for support. I only got to being DF from regular posting and by doing that being really committed to getting my debt down. But there were a few bumps along the way!:)

Best of luck on your journey

  • Hi brizzledfw
Well done on managing to clear your debts and becoming debt free. I am expecting a few bumps along the way but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Did a small shop today and managed to cut back a little . Bought a cheaper brand of a few things to save a few pennies much to my sons dismay. He was quite sternly told "If your hungry you will eat it" to which he replied we've gone from Mcvities to Mcskinties. Gave us all a chuckle I must say lol.

Good Luck. I've been hanging around MSE for a little while and had a proper LBM almost a month ago now. I've received so much support already. I feel like I'm taking control rather than the debt controlling me. You are in the right place to find the support to become debt free

    Very best of luck! :T:T

  • Morning all and thank you all so much for your support and kind words.
I feel so much calmer knowing I am not alone in this and others are in the same boat as me.
kindofagilr It looks so good to see your debts coming down. I so want to see that on mine.
Pay day tomorrow, but minimum payments are due to show up in the next few days. So will hang on to my money and make my overpayments on those.
All CCs are put away gathering dust. 1 cut up and closed a couple of months ago.
"Beware the others I am coming for you too". x
