Mystery Shopping Tax Question

not been on for a while! I started doing Mystery Shopping last September and in total earnt £273, I'm registered with Tax and really need to get my tax return sorted but don't understand how I do it, I've read and re-read the guidence notes but don't have a clue!

Also I didn't keep all my receipts but have the figures written down of what I spent!

anyone got any tips or help for me!

I've got a word doc saved with the job date, company, fee, reimbursements, payment date and milage costs.

  • Post your accurate return, why didnt you keep the receipts ? Does your mystery shopper company have them or copies of them ? Likelihood is you are too insignificant for IR to bother you, however you should keep receipts for seven years. There is a very long thread at the top of the page on mystery shopping, the shoppers in their probably could give more specific advice than here.

    how do you get into mystery shopping?

    Used to do it for Top shop but very rarely got anything because a lot of people were signed up.

    Hi Leni,

    Don't worry too much about the missing receipts. I would still include them on my tax return, and in all likelihood if the tax man ever queries it, providing they seem reasonable, you should be fine.

    Obviously try to keep them from now on!
