Buying a car from AUTOTRADER ? - Is it Risky .??

have you guys bought a car from autotrader? from a private person, or company via autotrader? Is this risky (compared to using cargiant.com) as these autotrader private sellers cars could have hidden things wrong with the car, which they don't reveal? (hidden past accidents, hidden electronic problems) ? -and HPI checks…

There are some who will say you should never buy/sell a car from family or friends. If something goes wrong and you fall out you lose said friend.
