NW Europe road-trip advice
I have managed to secure a very cheap ferry booking for Dover to Calais and back for later this year (£56!) with seafrance, and am now planning a 10-day road trip in North-Western Europe, and I need help!
Firstly, do I need to do anything special with regard to insurance or any other legal issues to take my car abroad?
Secondly, apart from Calais itself, we would like to go to Brussels, and Brugge, and possibly other places like Antwerp, Rotterdam and even Amsterdam.
I don't have a real idea of the distances involved or how realistic this is, so any recommendations of where to go, and timings, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You can do that whole round trip in a day if you cane it. They're not as far apart as they sound like they should be.
Remember to check each countries requirements in regards to first aid kits, spare bulbs, warning triangles and high-vis vests and altering your headlamp beam - they're the main things required. Also phone your insurers - they should offer an insurance card of some type.0 -
Yes, we fairly regularly book up on say an 8 or 9am ferry then turn left at calais and you are in Bruges in about an hour, all motorway, no tolls. I always head towards the station then park in t'zand car park. its reasonable and central.
We have lunch and a wander round then back via calais and stock up on wine and back to england!
A great day out!0
