The Del Monte fruit are 2 for £1.50 on the receipt.
Thanks for this - I was looking at these Pear Halves a day or two ago but comparing vs 90p was just way too expensive:eek:. This makes them a little more reasonably priced, although still a bit on the high side. For reference, Sains. were 66p each two or three years ago.0 -
A v W, NG 2 for £3.0

Night all. Awayday tomorrow, working. Hopefully will get in 'new' places. Forgot to say earlier that there are some inexpensive legs and half legs of lamb around. Offers finish tomorrow0

Try using tinned potatoes as well. Makes a passable potato salad.
Drain and dry potatoes and cut into small chunks.
Chop up a few spring onions into small slices.
Ditto a few chives.
In a bowl, mix the spring onions and 2/3rds. of the chives into a few tablespoons of mayo then add the potatoes.
Add more mayo if required.
Top with the rest of the chives.
Serve at room temperature.
Russian salad can be made the same way with tinned peas, carrots and potatoes. (I still add the onions and also a pinch of mustard). Makes a large quantity that keeps well in the fridge for a few days. Useful when there are lots of people (i.e. bbq, party etc.) and very inexpensive to make.
Coleslaw
Grate filler onions with filler carrots and white cabbage.
Mix with mayo.
Very inexpensive to make and tastes so much better than the bought stuff.
Thank you for the potato salad and russian salad idea. Brilliant. I'm cooking for a family party in a couple of weeks, in someone else's kitchen, and have not decided what to cook yet (apart from ciabatta bread!) so this is an excellent idea.
The coleslaw, however, is a bit too rich for me made like that. I tend to buy a tub of the low calorie stuff then add grated carrot and sultanas to it. That makes it look home-made, stretches it a long way, and stops it being watery. It always seems to go down well.0 -

Yeah that's the same for me, was just pondering as I'm in Scotland and I'm pretty sure Mrs B is too, so just wondered if it was one of those weird MSM quirks!
How nice of the apg to give us Scots a fruit glitch:eek:
