Thank you . It was about 17 years ago now. She was 60 and a single decker bus coming in the opposite direction was speeding because he was late , saw a car in front of him , slammed on his brakes and careered across the wet road and hit my mum head on.0 -
I survived today. Hated certain bit though. Firstly on arrival we were given tea coffee, cake and biscuits. Once that was over we had to speak to a camera about why we want to work for virgin trains and were given 60 seconds for this. Although, my mind went blank as soon as the camera started rolling.
Next was chatting to staff members and other candidates and getting to know the staff more.
Once this was over we had speed interviewing where staff and candidates pass by the even numbers so we all get to talk. I could not understand the scoring for this though as the pictures seemed to be random. Then that was it all 30 of us were out the door and will hear in 2 weeks. Not too bad though as people who do not get the job will be added to the list for future jobs. So here's hoping.0 -
I mentioned Mum yesterday and it all kicked off today. My Mum has been in hospital 4 weeks and was due home tommorow but due to the hospital leaving it to me to contact care agency with 48 hours notice it all fell to bits. Apparently they should have gone through Adult Social Care who had to send a form to care agency and as Mum needs reassessing they are coming Tuesday to do it when she gets back.
So this morning my younger brother called me at 9.00 to ask what was happening and I said they rung at 8 to say it was Tuesday and he kicked off. He said could we not look after her this weekend ( i.e. him, other brother, sis and me but in reality me) and I said no she has to have her care package in place. Also they have delivered a hospital bed today as she has difficulty getting in and out of bed now and has to stay in bed all night ( no need to go into details). He then started going on about what I was doing this weekend as Mum allocates her attendance Allowance to me ( in addition to my carers allowance) and I still get it even if she is away. I told him if he wants to take over go ahead and the money thing is between Mum and me. In the end I put down the phone called older brother who agrees she needs to come back Tuesday and got on with my day.
Starting new job on 29th so I will not be getting money from state or Mum any more but by default I will be doing less. Seriously thinking about a full time carer now and Social are sending someone to assess her as her care is funded so we can then use that budget plus the Attendance Allowance to pay someone else.
Anyway back to glitching , got 18 toilet rolls so far yesterday and today and a PP for £7.08 for the cat food ( dont have a cat but when has that stopped any of us!!!!
Rose can your mum not be reassessed in hospital, my mum was, and she didn't come out until package of care suitable was in place. It can be really difficult to get the right care in place once someone is already home. While hospital bed being taken they seem to find the right package that much quicker.
I didn't claim carer's allowance but know that my mum got a disability premium added think because she was entitled to pension credit but not 100% sure. OH not in at the moment so I can't check. But this was on top of attendance allowance. It was not quite as much as carer's allowance but I didn't need the money so it was better going to her. Not sure whether your mum maybe entitled to it. It was added automatically for my mum when she became entitled to AA.
I hope your mum is as comfortable as she can be hun, those hospital beds make life so much easier for everyone. My mum was really anxious about having one but I could not have managed without it and neither could she.
Good luck in the new job too. xx0 -

In fact on this particular road I pass a cemetery on the right where my dad and various other family are buried then about 200 yards on the left is where my mum died then a further 200 yards or so on the right is the entrance to the estate where she lived, then 100 yards a cemetery on the left where she s buried and finally just up the road I turn off for the drs.
Not a very nice walk that ,am sure you avoid it as much as possible ,I too have places I avoid like the plague0 -
