Hi, new to the forum here.
I'm a card tart and need to xfer soon to maintain my 0 percent interest - many of the cards appeal to me but nowhere do i see the max amount you can transfer. I need to transfer a lot, around £12K but would rather it was on one card not split between several - where can I find out which card would allow this high balance xfer?

Thanks

Generally speaking, providers don't tell you in advance.

The T&C tell you the amount you can transfer in terms of the credit limit. Typically it's 90%. However, nobody will tell you in advance the credit limit as it depends on the customer and you cannot even be sure that you'll be accepted.

And beggars can't be choosers. Be happy if you can get several cards to transfer £12K. Consider yourself lucky if you get a new card with ~£14K limit.

Also bear in mind that new card providers will assess your application on the basis of the new credit being in addition to what you already have, even though you're planning to transfer balances (they don't know that or can't rely on it). So, if you're trying to transfer £12K, you're effectively going to need to build up a total credit limit of circa £26K at its peak.

Every £ you can transfer at 0% will be better than nothing.

I have transferred balances of £8-£9k at 0% in the recent past (Halifax), but what you are offered will depend on your own circumstances.

Not true if it increases your minimum payment (in certain cases).

I think I saw the limit before applying for a pre-approved card from a bank I already had a relationship with in internet banking, and if you pop to a branch I know at least Lloyds will be more than happy to tell you what limit you can have before applying (based on internal scoring, so assumes existing account(s))
