Nexus 7 has died - don't think JL will fix under warranty?

Just posting to see if anyone else has had similar problem and managed to have Nexus fixed under warranty. I was bought mine by my husband from JL for my birthday in February 2012. Today it has stopped working and my husband has been trying to fix it all day. It appears that what has happened to mine is common problem caused by an update which applied itself automatically to my tablet yesterday. I have a 2 year guarantee with JL but reading the small print it appears I'm not covered as it's a software issue. Do you think it's worth me taking it to JL to have a word with them anyway? They're usually really good re: electricals I've heard.

Hi, won't it be our of the warranty anyway as its more than 2 years since purchase? Or did you mean 2013?
My Nexus has just come back from JL as the motherboard went. Try calling them, all repairs must be authorised but I don't know if that includes software issues.

Certainly if JL is John Lewis take it back and ask .
Fails then any competent mobile repair shop should be able to fix .0 -

I tried to make a warranty claim on a printer bought from JL that was barely a month out of warranty. I was politely but firmly told that the claim would not be considered.
If it's been caused by a software update, then Google should offer a fix-the problem must be widespread? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Thank you to you all for replying. Sorry, I did get the date wrong. The Nexus was bought in 2013.
Thankfully, my wonderful very patient husband seems to have sorted the problem out for me. He did this by downloading a Nexus Toolkit and somehow taking the Nexus back to the previous update. It seems ok although it keeps saying it's ready to update again. Apparently there is a problem with the new update in that its corruption causes the tablet to "boot loop" meaning it wants to reboot but can't.
Fingers crossed that it is fixed completely. Hope this may help anyone else who experiences this problem.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge.
