Bid retraction/cancellation notice

Received my 3rd bid retraction/cancellation notice in the last 10 days. What is going on? The explanation has always been "wrong amount entered". That can't be right - 5 days after placing a bid, they realise that they have entered the wrong amount??????? I know when you are in a hurry sometimes you enter the wrong amount, but you would know that more or less straight away, not after 5 days!

Is it for the same item? It may be possible someone is artfically keeping the price of your item high to put off other bidders. They then cancel the bid and get it cheaper.

Also I would not pay much attention to the reason they put. They could put anything and no-one would be any wiser. It is a shame that buyers can not get "defects" like sellers will do

It has been for different items. I have never cancelled a bid so I don't know how it works - is there a reason that you have to select from a selected list because all 3 have put "wrong amount entered". How do they realise 5 days later that it was the wrong amount when it was the minimum amount for the bid? I think they have just changed their mind and used the "wrong amount" as an excuse. It doesn't bother me that they have cancelled - it is better they cancel now rather than I go through NPB or INR or whatever.

Yes you get a list of I believe 3 reasons when you wish to end an auction early.

    The selections available in broad terms are;
    Wrong price/starting price amount entered
    Error in listing
    Item no longer available
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

OP is actually asking about bid cancellations.

OP they have a very limited choice so have to choose something that is not always appropriate. The list is something like

    Wrong amount entered
    Can't contact seller
    Seller ignoring emails

    Something like that anyway

That explains why they are all choosing "wrong amount entered" as the other two are not appropriate. Thanks

How do you know that the amount they bid was the minimum?

For example, if your item had a starting price of say 99p, they could've bid £99 by mistake.

All you would see was the 99p bid.
You have no way of knowing the figure they actually submitted.

On the cancellation history (which only the seller can see) I can see the retracted amount. On 2 of them it was the minimum bid and on one of them it was slightly higher than minimum.
