Flood damage = very smelly house, ideas please.

Hi all, we were extremely lucky and only lost our kitchen floor in the floods however the water had risen to just under our floorboards throughout the rest of the house and now we are left with a residual damp, musty, rotting smell. It really stinks and despite putting air fresheners around the key areas, hall and living…

Hi Triker
Hun you will find dehumidifiers will help and when we were flooded last year our local council was handing out big 5litre bottles of extra strong disinfectant and hand wipes. If you clean anything which has had contaminated water on it, wear rubber gloves and use a strong disinfectant to kill any bacteria. I ended up with an infection in my fingers and had to have strong antibiotics and an antibiotic cream...love Misty x
