Advice on buying a new desktop please

Hi guys

I have a budget of about £350; I am looking to buy a new desktop PC which will be used for emailing, internet browsing, word processing, some gaming (nothing that needs an expensive graphics card though) etc. I'd like a Windows 8.1 OS as I have used this on another PC and have got used to it. I've had a look at a few sites but am getting a bit confused with all the options and would be really grateful if some advice / suggestions could be given to me!

Thank you

I'll help you because I play chess too - this thing is more than capable of doing that at FICS or wherever you go

a little over budget £16.99 but for that you get an I5 which are superb chips, fast ram, and your operating system installed. If you get more into gaming and the processor won't cut it you can always buy a flashy graphics card later on as you have that option open with the processor handling the graphics - I'm not a company rep, it just looks competitive. I build them myself so I can tell you if you wanted to up the graphics at a later point (unlikely unless you're a harder core gamer than stated) then you're looking at sub £50 on ebay to move up - I sold an nice sleek Nvidia on ebay recently expecting £70/£80 and it went for approx. £30, market is flooded really , its all about your choice.. mainly cause the elite game heads get a card and then when it won't pass one benchmark, out the window it goes, straight onto ebay and another £400 slapped down to stay bang up to date...not being critical of hardcore gamers, more talking from experience until I grew up and joined the working world and didn't have the time to spend days gaming.. pc has more space than most people you need and USB 3 if you want it though USB 3 isn't really supported (justified in speed increase) enough by the devices next to USB2 - you can plug em in but you'll get the bottleneck at the device

you'll have to lay out for office on top of this unless you have it. alternatively you could find a proxy bouncing you from a country where freedom is actually free to a torrent site, shove the result into utorrent as a link, and bob is your proverbial uncle etc..

    good luck

I bought a desktop pc for my daughter recently from this company and was impressed by the prices and quality of their stuff. There is also great flexability to make up your own spec.

I must admit though that you will have a job beating the pc recommended by andydiysaver above.
