Saxon Tenants Shield Insurance - Just for Students?

Hi
I've just taken out a policy with the above (I move into a private rented self-contained studio apartment in about a week).
When I signed up for the policy I wasn't asked for my Date of Birth so I assumed there were no age constraints on the policy (I'm 40).
When having a closer look at the site, it does seem to be geared towards "Students and Young Professionals". I do fit the professional category but alas wouldn't class myself as "young" anymore.
I've looked carefully through the terms and conditions and cannot find anything suggesting I have to be a student, however on their website under the policy information it does state "By completing this online application, your demands and needs are those of a student living in privately rented owned accommodation and wishing to insure your personal possessions against theft, loss or accidental damage whilst in your accommodation."
Can anybody please advise if the policy is valid for me, or if I will be penalised if and when I attempt to make a claim?
I purchased this by the way as I needed tenants liability cover as part of the rental agreement, and this seemed a very nice cheap policy.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Damo2409,
I have the exact same policy as you. I take it you're having this policy for the tenants liability aspect right? (EDIT - Oops, you did say)
When they say "For graduates, nurses & young professionals in private rented accommodation" what they're really saying is This is a policy that's suited to graduates and young folk in the same way that Diamond car insurance state their policies are for women (covers handbags contents etc), however there isn't anything stopping men from having the same cover.
Now if you have a look at the cover provided:Collections of CDs, DVDs, other media £500
Personal Money (For theft from your room following forcible entry) £50
Credit/Debit Card Fraud £500
Legal Responsibilities to Third Parties (for injury to others or damage to their property) £1,000,000
Legal Responsibilities as a Tenant (for theft or damage to landlords property) £5,000
Locks & Keys (replacement locks or keys if they are stolen) £150
Freezer Food (following the mechanical failure of a fridge/freezer) £25
Desktop Computer Equipment (Excludes Laptop computers)
Most of these cover items would suit a young person (although not necessarily) where as someone who is married or retired would probably need something more comprehensive to cover contents. But if it covers all your needs there is no issue with having this policy.
Just to be sure, I've just had a look through my own schedule and policy wording and there isn't anything to do with age.
Hope that helps."Always fulfil your needs, only fulfil your wants when your needs are no longer a concern" - citricsquid0 -
Thanks for the reply Smithers37. I thought I was probably OK but nice to get some reassurance.0
