electoral roll /c card glitch

Hello

Well Ive been accepted for a new credit card but suspect there's a problem, because it turns out the credit reference agency doesn't keep good records.

Took myself off the electoral roll because I thought I was moving, a couple of months back. Then I changed my mind, time passed and the other week I applied for the card. I don't know that much about these credit reference agencies but looked up my record the other day at the one that's free and noticed I was showing on the electoral roll, which got me thinking. So... the card company has issued me a card and I want it - there's a nice balance transfer deal and the limit's very generous, higher than I'd asked for - but they have obviously done so after seeing the report, which says I'm on the electoral roll.

I would have thought they would have updated their records earlier but that's not how they work, I've learned. Anyway, if the credit card company get automatic updates like the other thread says, then they're going to see, sooner rather than later, that I'm not on the electoral roll, when the credit reference agency finally correct their records and tell them. I understand it should happen shortly. So when that does happen, the credit card company will see the new information as a piece of adverse info as they want you to be on the electoral roll and I suppose they'll see that I was off the electoral roll before too.

I don't want to lose the card so it's a worry.

What is the best thing to do. I am looking for a new place again, now, so I could possibly get on the roll quickly when I move, and then the card company would see that at least my current place has been swapped for a new one. If I can't find anything I like, I could stay where I am for a bit and maybe this would be best solution, I could sign up to the electoral roll again. But in both cases my new credit agency file would still show a gap of a couple of months in being on the electoral roll, around the time of my application (which it's not showing at the moment because they haven't updated it!).

thanks
terry

You've been approved for the card based on your file on the day of application.

The credit card company won't recall the card even if they do happen to check and notice you are no longer showing on the electoral roll.

Now you have the card your account conduct is the thing they will primarily assess when making decisions about the account (such as new credit limits, whether to renew when your card expires etc).

It is not unusual for people to have an electoral roll gap of a month or so when moving house.

If the lender decides to do further checks in between applying and the customer receiving the card, they may cancel the application as they see fit. Not saying this will happen but can happen.

Barclays for example are known to do this.

True - but it is usually within a week or so of approval. I was assuming that by 'other week' the OP meant more than a week ago (shouldn't assume of course).
