Withdrawn from Uni - Which Benefits (if any)?

My daughter started her first year at uni last September (living away from home) and has struggled with health problems for a good while. She eventually took the brave decision to withdraw from uni at the end of March as she could no longer cope as her health problems were having a large impact on her wellbeing and affecting her course.
As all of her student finance has now been stopped, is she entitled to any benefits? She has been to see her GP and has a sick note.
She is hoping to get her health problems sorted out and re-apply to start uni again this September so the claim for any money is only going to be short term.

Well some kind of work would probably do her good but some days she is so unwell she can barely get out of bed.whodathunkit wrote: »Is she well enough to work?

If she is still unwell she can claim Employment & Support Allowance. If she has never worked she will not be entitled to the Contribution-Based element but may be entitled to the Income-Related part but this is dependent on her capital and her income (assuming she is a single person). Also any student income she has already received may also be deducted from her entitlement.
If she is fit for work she can claim Jobseekers Allowance, the same rules mentioned above will apply to her Cont based and Income Based JSA.0
