Zero balance on credit file but EOS Solutions wont give up.

Hi, hello and good morning,

A little bit of background.... silly students gets in debt because credit cards came with free popcorn makers and store cards came with pretty new clothes. In my 20s I did my best to avoid repaying my debts.... now approaching my 30s and apparently maturity I am trying to get back on track. Have paid off a number of my debts and have payment plans with a number of others.

And now to today. Have been receiving letters from EOS solutions about a Freeman's account. Now back in the day I did have a catalogue account so I dealt with my letter in my usual way. I send them a polite little email explaining that while I do intend to repay my debts my current income is modest. I offered to make a cheeky one off payment of 25% of the balance as full and final settlement. They declined this as most do, but its a good starting point for negotiations.

However, since then I have registered for my credit file (something I wish I had done much much sooner) seems on my credit file the balance of my Freeman's account is £0 and has been since 2008.

So my question to you is..... IS THIS RIGHT? How can EOS be pursing a debt that is settled? Are they chances hoping to make a quick buck?

Thanks in advance for your advice and info.

Ooopsi :rotfl:

Perhaos as Freemans sold the debt to EOS Solutions.

Are a default and/or late payment markers registered against the account too?
  • The info I have is from checkmyfile.com. They tell me the Freeman's account is on file with Equifax and callcredit history. On both records the account status is normal and the note is "The payment due was made on time, and the account is up to date." Next to date of default it simply states "not defaulted".

Hmm, interesting. You should get your £2 statutory reports with Experian and Equifax (only the £2 - don't pay for the meaningless scores they try to sell) and register at noddle.co.uk to check your actual files. Noddle is free btw. Then see what data is recorded on your file there.
  • Hi Thanks for the info. have just registered with noddle on your recommendation and the info there is the same.

I think I am going to email EOS back and retract by offer of repayment and ask them for some more info on this debt they allege.

There's a link to a prove it letter that people send in similar instances, which is posted on here. Not sure whether this is entirely relevant for you though due to the fact you've acknowedged it, but perhaps it can be modified to be more relevant.

Please can someone post the link.
