Wrong reg help

I got a parking ticket late 2013 didn't pay it as the registration number was wrong and it said I was parked somewhere I wasn't. Whilst I have proof of the wrong reg I didn't take a picture to prove I wasn't parked when it said. I've read that a wrong reg means an invalid ticket...I've now received my first debt collection letter and am worried but still thinking I shouldn't pay. Anyone got any advice? Any experts out there?

Any experts out there?
Some of us know something about this stuff, either through first-hand experience, or by doing loads of reading, every day, every week, throughout the year.Anyone got any advice?
Have you read the NEWBIES sticky at the top of the forum index on page 1 yet? It covers most of what you need.
Come back after reading it if you then have any queries. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

When it came back from DVLA as a non-existent reg they'll have checked the photo to get the correct reg.Je suis Charlie.0 -
I've now spoken to the BPA who asked me if UKPC gave me the option to appeal through POPLA in their appeal rejection letter, they did not. BPA have therefore got involved. anyone had any experience of this?0

All the time on here. What did you learn when you read the NEWBIES thread?
What did you find when you searched this forum for 'UKPC no POPLA code' or 'UKPC BPA' or similar?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
