I recently bought a HDD TV and have been able to get RTE through freeview, but tried to watch the Man U Euro match on Wednesday on RTE TWO, but a sign came up stating" this progamme is not available". anyone any ideas why?

programme not for transmission outside the territory - ie not outside ROI0

As Tommie said
its due to rights issues, no re-transmssion from UK freeview channels0 -
Too late now, but the best choice would have been a 'dual' ? TV that receives MP2 & MP4 ? so that you get Freeview & Saorview.
Not sure of the technicalities but our sports programmes aren't restricted.
"The Toshiba 32HL933B is a 1080p Full HD TV and features both integrated Freeview HD and Saorview Tuners (for RTE Services) providing more than 152 subscription free Digital TV and Radio channels in addition to a CI Slot for upgrading to premium services such as Sky Sports."

Don't think you can get Saorview in NI outside the border counties0
-
You can get Saorsat via a dish - but not 100% sure if they block on that ??0

If you could RTE you can get Saorview.0

The rte2 signal you are receiving is coming from a freeview transmitter (such as Divis) - it transmits rte1, rte2 and tg4. This is transmitted on freeview, not saorview as someone commented above. Champions league will be blocked on this.
If you have a freeview hd (slightly more technical than that but in general freeview hd will work) TV and an aerial pointing at the Dundalk (or Sligo I think if you're in the west) saorview transmitter than you will also pick up rte from there - you'll then receive rte2 in HD as well as additional channels such as rte junior, rte news, TV3 and 3E. On my tv they start at about 800 in the channel listings. The signal strength was increased a year or two ago (about the same time as the digital switchover) so the majority of the north can receive the signal (not only the border counties) - you just need the correct freeview tuner and aerial0 -
The Humax HD free view boxes pick up all the Saorview channels from across the border. The signal is pretty strong now. I can pick it up in Waringstown with a cheap set top aerial, whereas previously I had to use an amplified outdoor aerial.
My saorview signal is actually much better than the NI MUX.
I think it was reported in earlier threads that people in Lisburn and Belfast also picked up transmissions with suitable equipment.0 -
Witless's suggestion isn't much use unless you can actually get the signal from the south, just like in the analogue days. And you would need to have 2 aerials connected unless you're very lucky. You'd be better with a Freeview box or TV, and a Saorview box or TV, connected to an aerial of their own.0
