PIN on second card on account

in Credit cards
I have a couple of credit card accounts with extra cards on for my son. Does anyone know if the PIN is usually the same for both cards? My son's cards are only used in emergencies so he doesn't know the PINs.
Also, in Europe is it usually CHIP and PIN or do you still sign for purchases?

If you mean additional cardholder, it will be a different pin.
Most places I've been to in Europe require pin, apart from Vienna metro station machine last week that accepted payment without any proof/pin/signature whatsoever. America is where swiping is still common.0 -

PINs will be different. In fact, your bank's t&cs probably say you would be grossly negligent if you disclosed your PIN to your son (even though he's an additional cardholder).noelphobic wrote: »Also, in Europe is it usually CHIP and PIN or do you still sign for purchases?
I believe that Germany and Austria is mostly chip and signature, but everywhere else in Europe is chip and PIN.0 -

and when using UK cards in Germany and Austria you still use your PIN if you have one.0 -

.
Wouldn't that only be an issue if I was to claim that unauthorised purchases were made on the account? I do know of people who give third parties their ATM card and PIN to get money out for them.
I've ordered a PIN reminder so should be OK if it arrives in time anyway. Bit annoying that with my MBNA account I can get a PIN reminder on line for my card but not for the second cardholder.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

Actually if I remember correctly he can sign up for his own online account with his card with MBNA and view the Pin that way.0 -

Interesting. Do you know how to do it?3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Just realised that in order to read your PIN online you have to key in the CCV number. They're different on each card so that would have worked for the second card. Doh!3 stone down, 3 more to go0
