problem with meter reader rant

Last year i had major hastle with a gas/electric meter reader man.He turned up just as i was going out so said it was inconvienient, he then said that this was the ...(can't remember how many) visit made and if i didn't let him in they would get a entry warrant and knock down my front door at 6am. he refused to give me his name or allow me to read it from his ID.

I had not had any cards put through my door in 2 years so how do i know how many visits they have made.I told him that i am disabled and unable to empty the huge cupboard without assistance so i need notice. Also I have a son who is disabled and he cannot bear people in his house (after 7 years my best friend can finally come round for a coffee without sending him into a state) so i have to prepare him for a visit. He just repeated about getting my door knocked doen

I then phoned my suplier and the meter reading company complaining about his threatening manor (he even sized up to me) and that I would allow any staff entry but this man no way! And have done - all the rest of the staff are lovely and were given access
In the end I received a £50 apology and assurances that he wouldnt darken my door again. He turned up yesterday and I refused him entry, to which he said I'll be back today again. And turned away muttering under his breath. I have just phoned my suplier with the meter readings, and I am trying to get through to his company, but i cant find the number. grrrrrrrrr. sory rant over

Even tho you sent in readings online, they are required to read the meter every so often.

We've had an issue with the gas, had a request from BritGas that the wanting to change the meter as it's been in 15yrs+, appointment set, frustrating that they only commit to arriving any time between 8am-8pm on the day of agreed appointment.

The guy came at the end of the day took on look at the meter and said he didn't have any of those types (you'd thought they'd know what meter you've got before arriving), I suspect with it being the end of the day his primary interest was getting home and was just round to get a tick in his box. Wasted day waiting around having moved washing machine and kitchen gear ready

BGas request another appointment, again someone needs to cancel plans to stay in for the day, everything moved out of the kitchen ready. 8pm comes and goes and no sign of the BGas guy.

    A second day wasted

British Gas consistently provide appalling customer service, as evidenced in many consumer reports. I had a threatening letter from them about obtaining a court order to break into my house to inspect the meter - wouldn't have minded, but it was the first we had heard from them, and the letter said that they ahd 'arranged' to come on a day the week before. By 'arranged' they meant putting a card through my door on the very day that the threatening letter arrived - very reassuring. When the guy finally did come to look at it, I received a letter the next week asking if we would consider switching supplier to....oh yes...British Gas! Numpties all round!
