in that case, dont read them , only check its not an LBC or court papers from northampton or salford (probably northampton)
keep all your paperwork filed away , just in case, bearing in mind that excel (or the landowner) have up to 6 years to go down the small claims track
read post #4 of the NEWBIES sticky thread, several times, until you fully take in what it says0 -

You didn't bother to search for NEWLYN as a keyword then? No need for added questions about the well-known (and discussed far too often) next letter in the chain that everyone laughs at, seeing as if you had read other Newlyn threads you would be expecting the letters. Please don't post about every letter without searching and reading other Newlyn threads...please. The forum works best for you if you stay off your own isolated thread and read other people's experiences who have gone before.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Actually I did 'bother' to search but as I had said in my post, I had read them but was still confused! I find your response to be quite abrupt and offensive. This is a unique situation for me as I've never been threatened with court action before so forgive me for being cautious and asking for further clarity or is that not allowed?0 -
Sorry I am a mardy cow sometimes and apologies - I agree my post above was too abrupt, probably after a load of similar threads about debt collectors which I see as fairly pointless threads on here (sorry but they are and that's why I cover 'debt collector stage' in the NEWBIES thread, in an effort to avoid new threads about them which can't tell you any more). There's really only so many times you can explain that these ridiculous 'scary' letters can be ignored, debt collectors can't sue people, etc. and that's already in the sticky thread and on all the other Newlyn threads.
Just constantly surprised that people can still be concerned about every debt collector letter if they've searched and found the hundreds of other threads all about the whole letter chain, all laughing about the drivel Newlyn spout. I would have thought you'd have been expecting each letter having read about them umpteen times having searched & found what we know is here already. When I collected my debt collector letters I laughed at them and just looked ahead at the next one to expect - which turned up like clockwork of course. That was 6 years ago though because we don't ignore PPCs now and haven't done for over a year.
Hope you are reassured that they really are drivel but searching the forum is the best way to learn from others who have already been there, done that with your letter chain.
If the letters are suggesting the keeper is liable then you could complain to the BPA that you appealed back in 2012 and you were lied to about having to name the driver and were never given a POPLA code at the time - so you consider the ball was in Excel's court to send you a POPLA code and consider the 2012 appeal properly - and is not theirs to now chase by debt collection letters. You had considered the matter closed as they didn't respond with a POPLA code which is their fault, not yours. That is, if the initial event was post POFA 2012 (Oct 2012 or later).
I would do this because sometimes Excel move onto small claims papers. I would also repeat the above to Excel (not to Newlyn).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
