Hi Mrs Trelfa :hello:
Thanks for the compliment, buts its just a hobby really. I dont get greedy and just aim to better what I would get in a savings account. If I can do better still then amazing and I can make an OP or two with the profit, but I wont be going to St Tropez and time soon:rotfl:Initial mortgage (Dec 2012) £108,000 3.84%APR MF date Jan 2038

Hi Muser1 :hello:
Yes woodchip is very hard work and mine I think has been painted with Gloss. I have found some very old looking wallpaper (1930s??) underneath. Perhaps I should contact timeteam to get it carbon datedInitial mortgage (Dec 2012) £108,000 3.84%APR MF date Jan 2038

Got some money back that I was owed (£80) and will add this on to my OP pot.
I have a monthly SO set up as H**C seem to make it excruciatingly hard to make OPs online. I dont ever venture into my branch unless absolutely necassary as they have "upgraded" and now have just 1 cashier with a huge queue, plus a row of machines collecting dust. And I dont see why a bank needs to have sofas, you dont sell coffee!!
Anyway rant over for now. Upped SO to £440 in time for the 1st May payment, but I may need to amend it again next month depending on my spending level.

I know what you mean by the banks 'upgrading' their branches. My local barcl@ys are getting rid of most of the cashiers and putting in machines. I do. not like it. A machine does not understand your query/question and besides I like the human contact, a face of the bank - not a screen. My rant over.House purchased November 2013

Ah yes, the human contact. Some companies just see the numbers and dont get the concept of the customer experience. In a digital age any bad news will travel very fast and you'd think they would pay this more attention to this.
I now refuse to shop at the local M****sons convenience store due to the very poor service.
They often have no cashiers open and staff actually tell you "there's no till open, you'll have to use self service". My response was to tell them I had a large basket and was not going to use self checkout, and so they would have to either open a till, or put all the items from my basket back on the shelves.
There is a small sains literally next door so I now I go there instead, their loss.

Hi Greent & misscousinitt,
Thanks for the welcome. I think writing my thoughts here will certainly help me keep focused with what I want to achieve. 100K is going to be a bloomin hard slog.
When I get something in my head I will stick at it, but I also dont want to become too obsessed with the OPing, and so the other reason for having a diary is so the nice people on here can reign me in if I start to overdo it with the MFWness.Initial mortgage (Dec 2012) £108,000 3.84%APR MF date Jan 2038

OPing can be rather addictiveBut I'm all for balance - rather than a fast and furious approach for a shorter period, I prefer a slightly slower approach with the ability to still have treats along the way
A bit like diets, really!

I suppose there are worse things to being addicted to than being MF, but I agree that its important to keep things into perspective.
I know i'm going to be in a far better situation than if I do not OP at all, so I say better to be MF in say 12 years and to have a life, than to do it in 9 years but lose all your friends.
@Greent - I spotted your idea of cashing in loose change at supermarket self service checkouts (sorry cant remember where you posted it). I've got loads of copper knocking around as invariably end up with a pocket full of pennies that I cant get rid of without causing far too much agro. Been meaning to do something with it but didnt want the faff if bagging it up for the bank.
