Advice needed about online Retailer.

Hi, Can someone give me some advise about this please?
After trying out some sporting equiptment from an online company I said that I would have one item last week. So I asked about payment and paid the company via bank transfer. He said that he would order me what I wanted and send me a receipt. Its an importer of climbing equiptment and a LTD company.
This was last Friday, and I received no receipt,so yesterday I asked for confirmation that the money had gone into his account and a receipt. He said that he would check that he had got the money and send a receipt. I heard nothing elce and I've emailed him again today.
The company does have a good reputation generally and goes to various events etc. I havent got the item or the receipt and I dont know what to do next. I mean I'm contacting him but hes not sending me either.
I mean hes had a week now and the money definatley went in the correct account. I'm really worried about it.
Any advise would be appreciated.

paid the company via bank transfer.

That's the online equivalent of paying by cash, without the benefit of seeing who you are paying. If I see anyone requesting bank transfer then I tell them to F O.

All you can do is keep pressing. Your bank is unlikely to help as you have authorised the payment. The only other thing you can do is send a Letter Before Action to threaten court action unless he follows through with the promised actions or refunds you. Your problem is that he is a LTD company, so you could only sue the company and not him ... if the company has no assets then you'd get nothing back anyway.

If you want to provide a link to the website or the company name we can look into them to see what can be found
  • No its o.k, I'll give him a few more days and if he does rip me off then I will post on all the forums connected with the sport telling them wht hes done. I personally do not think he will ruin his repuation in close circles by ripping me off.
    Lesson learned for me though.
